2022 BioResources Early Career Investigator Award

BioResources is seeking nominations for promising early professional career individuals to compete for the 2022 BioResources Early Career Investigator Award. It is encouraged to nominate an early career colleague you consider to have contributed impactful and/or innovative research and can submit recent research for a competition.

The award recognizes an early career researcher’s novel, impactful, and captivating research in any experimental or theoretical frameworks related to lignocellulosic materials, chemicals, and applications for new uses and new capabilities.

Nominate an exceptional early career colleague by November 1, 2022 who will then be given until February 17, 2023 to submit their completed research article for the award competition, the winner will be voted on and chosen by the BioResources Editorial Board.

To make a nomination, please complete this form and also send a Microsoft Word document to bioresources-journal@ncsu.edu containing the 3 following items listed below in this order by Nov 1, 2022:

1. A preliminary abstract of the proposed or recently completed research that the nominee will submit to BioResources for the Award competition, this research cannot be previously published elsewhere.
2. A CV that includes the nominee’s education, up to 10 relevant publications, any previous honors, awards, or appointments, and lastly a brief description that highlights their research activities.
3. A nomination letter from the nominating individual discussing the impact of the individual’s research and relevance to applications within industry.

Eligibility & Rules:

• Doctorate degree in progress or must have been earned in the last 10 years.
• No self-nominations are allowed
• Submissions are subject to BioResources journal’s publishing fees, the winner’s research will be published free of charge.
• Nominations will only be accepted if made through the above link, if only an email is sent it will not count as a nomination.
• A nomination alone does not enter one in the submission competition, a complete research submission must be sent in by the submission deadline.
• All research manuscript submissions are still subject to the peer review process.

Before nomination, nominee’s consent must be obtained to share their information. This is necessary for BioResources and North Carolina State University to comply with laws and rules regarding processing personal data.

 Additional Information:

• Winner will receive a $1,000 honorarium & an award plaque.
• The award winner’s research will be published free of charge in BioResources after completion of the peer review process and related revisions.
